There’s far more to framing than meets the eye.

When choosing the mount and frame for your picture, it’s our job to ensure the picture takes centre stage. After all, the purpose of both the mount and the frame is to sympathetically enhance the image they surround.

To produce a quality-framed picture requires the best-trained operators working with the best equipment. This we do from our busy workshop on Walcot Street.

1. CONSULTATION
We take great pride in working with our clients as they choose mounts and frames. We consider the time spent at this stage to be vitally important in ensuring the quality of the end product you receive. We will also advise you on the best glass to use for both the protection and enhancement of your artwork ensuring your enjoyment for years to come.

2. MOUNT CUTTING
We currently operate 48" and 60" manual mount cutters whilst another machine enables us to cut oval and circular windows. We're able to cut mount boards up to 4mm thick and we still apply watercolour wash lines by hand.

3. FRAME CUTTING
Two foot-operated Morso guillotines mitre the mouldings, as well as a double mitre saw that enables us to cut wide oak sections and the larger, more ornate mouldings.

4. FRAME JOINING
Automatic air-compressed underpinners replaced hammer and nails a long time ago. However, unlike some framers, we always glue our mitres.

5. DRY MOUNTING
Many forms of artwork look their best if they're dry mounted onto card; this is particularly true of photographs and posters. All paper moves with changes in humidity levels so, where appropriate, dry mounting fixes and keeps paper flat.

6. ASSEMBLY
This is the part of the process where all the component parts come together and where we ensure the picture is attached correctly - no Selotapes or masking tapes are used to attach your artwork. Our skills and services are wide-ranging and culminate in framing to museum standard if the subject matter or artwork so demands.
